Aang and Katara's First Date Part 1

Time:Next Winter after the War

(Act 1-scene 1-ba sing se flower garden)
“Hey Sokka, I have a question,” Aang said approaching Sokka from behind the Dragon Poppy Bush.
“Yeah Aang what is it?”
“Back at the North Pole right when you saw princess Yue you loved her not even sure if she liked you in the same way…how did you get her to like you back?”
“Well Aang, I was just myself…why do you like someone?!”
“WHAT?! No! I don’t love anybody? Especially not anybody you know!” Aang blurted out blushing and looking away.
“Oh I know who, that girl from the village with the fortune teller…MAANG!”
“What, no not her! NOT ANYBODY!” Aang shouted.
“What ever…hey what do you think of these flowers I picked for Suki?”
“Girls like that type of stuff?” Aang asked
“Yeah dumb stuff like that, flowers, chocolates, poetry, etc,”
“Oh thanks Sokka!!” Aang ran off back into the dragon poppy bush
(Act 1-Scene 2-The city in Ba Sing Se)
“Hey Katara, what do you think of this dress?” Suki asked Katara
“Oh it’s wonderful…,”Katara said looking out the window.
“You think Sokka will like it?”
“Huh, oh yea,”
“Katara are you even listening?”
“Huh, oh yea,”
“No she’s not I can tell she’s lying,” Toph said.
“Oh, I know what’s happening,” Suki said with a smirk “your thinking about a boy! I used to get the same way when I thought about Sokka after we saw each other at the Serpents Pass!”
Katara popped out of her daydream blushing “What I’m not thinking about a boy!!!!!”
“Your lying! Katara and a boy sitting in a tree K-I-S-S-I-N-G!” Toph sang.
“Ugh! You know what, what ever! I’m going to go get some tea!” Katara stormed out of the store.
“She obliviously likes someone,” Suki said.
“Yeah, want to find out?” Toph asked
“Well I don’t know…that’s interfering in other peoples privacy…”
“Come on! I know your dying to know who it is,” Toph said
“You know what let’s do it!”
(Act 2- Scene 1- The Jasmine Dragon)
“Hey Iroh is Zuko around?” Aang asked
“Yes him and Mai are in the back making more ginseng tea,” Iroh answered
“Thanks!” Aang walked around to the back but stopped behind the blind spot from the back in the hallway.“You know why I love you?” Mai asked lovingly.
“Why?” Zuko chuckled.
“Because you love me,” Mai leaned in to kiss Zuko.
“Ehh hi,” Aang walked in midway into the make out session.
Mai and Zuko popped up and looked away then annoyingly at Aang.
“Uh Zuko can I ask you a question?” Aang asked.
“Can it wait?” Zuko leaned back in.
“No not really…,”Aang said
“(sigh)I guess I’ll go help your uncle with the tea…” Mai said while walking out the room.
“Aang, make this fast,” Zuko said.
“Well, there’s this girl I like and I don’t know If she likes me back….you have some experience with girls…what do you do with Mai to make her like you so much?”
“Ugh that’s it!!! Look all you have to do is be yourself! Now can you please go!” Zuko pushed him out.
“Oh no! It’s Katara!” Aang whisper shouted. Aang quickly looked around and spotted a window. He used his air bending to jump out the window and run before Katara saw him. “Phew”
“(sigh)Hello General Iroh,”
“Hello Katara, what’s the matter?”
“Oh nothing…there’s someone I like…at least I think I do….but I’m not sure…I mean he nice, funny, caring, sweet…but I just don’t know, it’s like part of me loves him, but the other part just likes him as a friend…I’m confused,” Katara admitted.
“That is a very difficult position you are in. Love is a very difficult thing.
You have to decide for yourself what is the right path to go on. You are a very bright girl. You know what is best for you,” Iroh walked away. Katara drank her tea trying to decipher Iroh’s advice.
(Act 2- Scene 2-Outside the Jasmine Dragon)
“Okay let’s go over this one more time,” Suki whispered “your going to go in the tea shop and sit down with Katara and try to get the secret out!”
“Got it (in Toph’s mind- how hard will it be she’s acting like we’re secret agents when we’re just trying to find out who she likes!),” Toph reassures Suki as she steps into the teashop,
“Hey Katara!” Toph yelled while running over to her table.
“Oh, hey Toph,” Katara said not that enthusiastically.
“Soooo have you seen Zuko today?” Toph asked waiting to see if she could feel Katara’s heart beat faster at the mare mention of a boys name by feeling the vibrations through the ground.
“No,” Katara replied. Toph felt no vibrations with Zuko’s name.
“Well what about Haru?”
“No not him either, why?” Katara asked.
“Oh no reason…,” Toph didn’t feel any reaction with his name either… “Well what about Aang?”
Katara spit out her tea when Toph mentioned Aang.
“Eww why did you spit out your tea…I asked if you saw Aang today?” Toph got suspicious.
“Oh, Aang! Nope haven’t seen him at all today…why, have you, not that I care…I mean why would I care…he’s just a friend STOP PUTTING PRESSURE ON ME!!!!” Katara blushed speed answering. BINGO, just what Toph was looking for…in fact Katara’s heart sped up 10 times as fast then Toph thought it would.
“Uhh I’m gonna go!” Katara rushed for the door and ran out of the shop. Toph followed her after she was sure Katara was gone.
“Did you find out who?” Suki asked.
“Yeah… it’s AANG!!!!!”
(Act 3-Scene 1-The Apartment)
“I hope Katara likes the panda lily I picked her, (sigh) Momo, how do I look?” Aang asked.
“Skee skee” Momo replied.
“Good…Momo what am I worried about it’s not like we haven’t kissed before…she must know I like her right?…I kinda sorta told her when we saw that dumb play about ourselves…I can’t believe it got five stars. (sigh) this is harder then when I had to master all four elements AND take down the fire lord! Okay everybody told me to be myself and look at their relationships!” Aang said. The door opened. Aang put on a big smile and waited to see if it was her…it wasn’t, it was Sokka and Zuko. Aang’s smile quickly faded.
“Hey Aang why did you run away all of a sudden at the garden?” Sokka asked.
“And why did you ask me that stuff about girls?” Zuko asked.
“I-”Aang was cut off.
“Wait he asked you too?”
“Yeah…” Zuko and Sokka quickly gained a big grin on their faces.
“What?” Aang said reaching for an exit.
“You do like a girl! I knew it!” Sokka yelled.
“UGH! NO I DON’T!!!” Aang yelled.
“What ever Aang,” Zuko said. Zuko and Sokka walked out and hid behind the doorway when they ran into Suki and Toph.
“Ow! That was my foot!” Toph whisper yelled.
“Toph…Suki, what are you guys doing here?!” Sokka whisper yelled.
“What are you guys doing here?!” Suki whisper yelled.
“It’s obvious we’re all here to spy on Aang!” Zuko whisper yelled at all of them.
“No…we’re spying on Katara!” Toph whisper corrected.
“What-why are you guys spying on her? Sokka asked.
“We think she likes Aang but we’re not sure so we were going to watch them when they saw each other,” Suki said.
“Shh! Here she comes!” Toph said. Katara walked up the driveway and opened the door.
“Oh hey Katara!” Aang blushed as she closed the door, “I picked this panda lily for you,”
“Thanks Aang,” Katara blushed.
“Sooooo….” Aang thought of something to say “would you like to go to this new restaurant opening with me? since I’m the avatar they wanted me to come and cut the ribbon,”
“Sure Aang I’ll go with you! (Inside Katara’s mind- YES!!! He asked me out!!! Oh my god!!! Wait this is a good thing right?)”
“Great! It’s at dusk tomorrow so be ready by then!” Aang sped walked out the room fueled by pure anticipation for the night ahead.

“Oh my god! You guys were right!!” Sokka exhaled “my little sister has a crush…on the avatar…and she’s going on her first date!!! Oh wait till I get my hands on Aang!” Sokka attempted to run after Aang but was stopped by Suki.
“Look, your little sister isn’t so little anymore…she’s growing up and you have to except that. Would you rather her go out with that crazy cabbage merchant? You have to trust her and if you can’t do it for her can you do it for me?” Suki asked.
“Yeah okay…,”
